Who would have thought that a man who had produced his first tracks by using samples from the old records given by a neighbor would make it big in the international music scene?

One-man band Gotye did just that.

Gotye (Wouter “Wally” De Backer) is the singer/songwriter behind the infectious song “Somebody That I Used To Know” featuring New Zealand singer Kimbra. It reached Number 1 in Billboard Hot 100, sold more than seven million copies worldwide and received numerous awards. Various artists sung the song itself, making the song more popular. Gotye has won five ARIA Awards and received a nomination for an MTV EMA for Best Asia and Pacific Act.
