Team MJ acalaims and acaplauds the acapella movie Pitch Perfect starring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Skylar Astin. Directed by Jason Moore, and written by Kay Cannon from the book by Mickey Rapkin, it is a story about finding your voice and following your heart. Through music that you make with your mouths.

Beca (Anna Kendrick) wants nothing more than to be a DJ and make music but her dad asks her to give college a chance. She ends up joining The Bellas, an all-girls a cappella group whose repertoire is frozen in the 90s. The Bellas compete against the Treble Makers, their all-boys counterpart which has fresher song choices. The Treble Makers also have attractive and sensitive Jesse (Skylar Astin) who charms Beca into lowering her defenses. Beca and The Bellas end up helping each other find and appreciate each other’s strengths and transform their group in time for the a cappella regional finals.

The film is funny, endearing, and fresh. Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) has some of the film’s best lines, and the song mashups will make you want to sing and dance along. Skylar was a breakout star in the acclaimed Broadway production Spring Awakening and Team MJ is glad he is now getting more well-deserved exposure.
