Leona Lewis covers Snow Patrol Run
As the final light dimmed on the sensational Manila debut of Irish/Scottish band Snow Patrol, concert-goers sat talking about how the uniquely ethereal arena-rock sounds of “You Are All That I Have,” “Eyes Open,” “Chasing Cars” and “Open Your Eyes” got translated for the Araneta Coliseum. And as thousands of fans – many of whom took advantage of the first, mostly non-rainy evening in Metro Manila in days – watched the dynamic, audio-visual feast from this leg of the Fallen Empires tour, there was one song that the entire audience acknowledged with glee – the song that put Snow Patrol on the map, “Run.”

Swoony lyrics, delicate vocals and an irresistible guitar hook made the song a massive worldwide hit – and a staple of movie trailers since 2004. But when X Factor UK winner Leona Lewis got her hands on it, she brought in a twist that Gary Lightbody and co. probably never envisioned: gospel. Behold:

Two versions, alike in dignity, and both pretty humongous hits. Sometimes the cover business is just a win-win, am I right?
