Treat of the Week: Sabanana Chips from Villa Socorro Farm

Sabanana Chips

Sabanana Chips from Villa Socorro Farm are paper-thin banana chips with just the right amount of crunch. These chips are probably thethinnest  banana chips seen in the market today, but still with enough substance that makes biting down on them a satisfying noisy experience. Villa Socorro Farm claims that the key to their product’s freshness is their “kawa sa pugon” method of cooking the chips in thesame day as the saba bananas are harvested from the Agri-Eco Village and Farm Resort in Pagsanjan, Laguna.

The chips are sold in a light bright green and yellow foil pack that makes for a perfect pasalubong package. The chips themselves come in a deep and even yellow color. Villa Socorro Farm Sabanana Chips come in three flavors: Sweet Original, sweetened just right with a hint ofsalt; Roasted Garlic; and Smoky BBQ.

Villa Socorro Farm Sabanana Chips are available from various outlets listed on their website. Villa Socorro Farm can also be contacted through tel. no. (+632) 852.6484 or (+63922) 850.5101, email villasocorrofarm@yahoo.com or their website www.villasocorro.com.ph

Somebody gave me Sabanana Chips to snack on and to keep myself awake while reviewing for the bar. Now I’ve eaten my stash and I want some more. I wish I could simply step out to SM somewhere and buy some.

    • Thanks for all the comments! It’s refreshing to read that people truly appreciate what we offer.

      - We’re actually thinking of making a “Light” version

      - Sorry for not having it too widely available. Selling to stores like SM will just suck out the life out of small manufacturers like ourselves so we’re looking for other alternatives to make our chips more available to the public.

      - We’re now available in Seafood City, Tambuli Market and Island Pacific Market in the Bay Area, LA and Las Vegas.
